We selected Pic from Brad and Sonya Boyers’ kennel in Georgia in the middle of January, 1998. After a long, cold trip to Illinois, the then seven-week old puppy literally fell asleep in mid-stride while playing in the living room. It was the last time we can remember that Pic ever “quit.”

Pic earned his Junior Hunter and Senior Hunter titles quickly, then spent a year and a half with Ray Weaver of Bittersweet Kennels in Bristol, Indiana. Ray began working on Pic’s Master Hunter title in 2002 and Pic earned it in October of that same year. Heartfelt thanks go to Ray and Kathy Weaver for their help and care.

Pic is an especially accomplished pheasant dog and has an intense desire to retrieve which seems to be equally evident in the puppies he has produced. Pic has proven to be an excellent stud and has sired more than 40 litters at this time. His pedigree is one of the finest in the retriever world, featuring especially strong bitch lines. For any of you worried about Pic’s age he just (July 2008) sired a litter of 11 pups with a female 9 1/2 years old!

Pic weighs 75 lbs. and is medium yellow in color. Pic’s stud fee is $500.

We purchased Linc in May 2004 and it was love at first sight. Linc is not only a strikingly beautiful dog; he moves like a spirited race horse being led to the track. Linc is stylish and graceful and he runs full-tilt. His water entry is all-out and all-heart and his only aim is to please.

Besides his phenomenal grace and beauty, Linc is gentle, affectionate, easy to handle and one of the best marking dogs we’ve ever seen.To date, other than a ” safety ” whistle on the last bird of a test Linc has only handled on two marks in competition and has never failed a HRC finished test. Bill was approached with a handsome offer to buy Linc immediately after Linc ran his first Senior Hunt test in August 2004. We took this as a great compliment but said no thanks.

Linc obtained his HRCH title May 1, 2005 at the age of 2 1/2 years by passing 7 sraight HRC Finished events. As of May 3, 2009, Linc has passed 12 HRC Finisheds  in 12 attempts. Linc earned his AKC Master title that  fall shortly before turning 3 on Oct. 30, 2005.  He is now happily hunting pheasants and ducks and has had about 12 breedings. Reports on Linc’s puppies have been glowing. Linc  qualified for the 2007 Master National and was inducted into the Backwater Retriever Club Hall of Fame on January 26,2008 along with his best buddy, Sophie. We are very proud of our boy Linc!

Linc is black (yellow-factored with no chocolate { VetGen tested}), has a “different” pedigree and weighs 75-80 lbs. Linc’s stud fee is $450.

Sadly we must announce that Roux passed away on Wednesday, October, 17, 2007. Roux was put to sleep at Texas A&M University after a short but devastating illness.

Roux was a deep chocolate, 90 lb., retrieving machine who took the retriever world by storm, earning his GRHRCH at 2 yrs after being the youngest qualifier in his first Grand. Roux was also the youngest finalist (3 years younger than the next youngest dog!) and only chocolate at the 2005 Super Retriever Series Finals where he finished 10th after capturing 3rd place in a SRS qualifier.  He was beautiful, intelligent, biddable and had a desire to retrieve and style that were breathtaking. In addition, his pedigree is very different from most chocolates and thus is a good cross for many more traditional chocolate backgrounds.

We at Blindfaith Retrievers are proud of our association with Roux and his owners, Ronnie and Connie Prudhomme from Lafayette, Louisiana. Roux’s pedigree, additional pictures and many accomplishments can be seen on his website, www.dakotascajunroux.com or the website of his trainer, Bill Autrey, www.autreykennels.com. Frozen semen is available. For details contact Ronnie or Bill through their websites.

Maple Creek’s Captain Morgan came to Blindfaith Retrievers in the fall of 2006 after having his initial field trial training  done by Mike Judas of Ten Bears.  He was bred by Brad and Sonya Bowyer of La Grange, Georgia, the same breeders who produced our  yellow male, Blindfaith’s Pick a Blue Moon MH. Morgan is 70 pounds, medium  yellow and has a gentle and affectionate temperament. He is as eager to please as he is eager to retrieve. Morgan is one of the most stylish dogs we’ve ever seen and once you have seen him pick up a bird you won’t forget it.

Morgan ran two Field Trial Derbies and earned a JAM (Judge’s Award of Merit) in one. Morgan began his hunt test career in the spring of 2007 passing four consecutive juniors and four consecutive seniors all in nine days to earn his junior and senior titles. Morgan passed his first  AKC Master the weekend of June 9, 2007  at Madison Retriever Club at the ripe old age of 2 1/4 years then followed it up with passes at WisAm, Backwater and Bootheel. Morgan earned his Master title at the Backwater Retriever Club spring test on April 13, 2008 exactly one year after beginning his hunt test career . Morgan ran and passed his first two HRC Finisheds on March 28 & 29, 2009 , passed his third and fourth on May 2 & 3 earning his HR title and followed that up by passing his fifth and sixth the weekend of May 16 & 17.  Morgan passed his seventh consecutive finished to earn his HRCH title on May 30 at Mississippi Flyway. He completed all 7 Finisheds with no handles on any marks or diversions and with 14 beautiful blinds.  Even though  our hearts are not in the field trial game like they were 20 years ago, we want to give Morgan ( and Linc) a chance to see if they can do some good so we plan to run some field trial qualifyings during the first half of 2010.

Morgan has also been introduced to the wonderful game we call pheasant hunting and has taken a special liking to it! During the first two weeks of September Morgan dove hunted for the first time and did a very nice job as well.

Morgan has now had quite a number of breedings and the litter owners are all happy with the pups that Morgan has produced. One puppy, True , owned by long time west coast pro, Paul Shoemaker, won the junior puppy stake at a March 7 field trial on the exact day he turned 3 months old!!! No collar, no lead, steady and delivered to hand!! . We are looking forward to watching the progress of these well bred puppies and we plan to keep a puppy from Ruff’s final breeding to Morgan which has been done. Pups are due July 18-19.

A number of Morgan’s littermates are doing very well in the competitive world. Maple Creek’s Mattie Mae, owned by Morgan’s breeder, Brad Bowyer, has derby points, qualified all age at 2yrs and placed third in an amatuer at 2.5yrs. and is now running all age stakes at a very competitive level. Two other littermates, HRCH Maple Creek’s Calumet’s Coyote MH ( Yote)  and Downtown Buster Brown( Buster) , made the  Nat’l Derby list. Yote had 19 derby points, a third and a fourth in quals and a 2nd in a SRS regional qualifying him for the Crown Championship this year. Buster was QAA at age 2yr, earned an amatuer 2nd at age 3  and is running Am’s and Opens with his owner, Charles Bearden.

At the Spring 2010 Backwater Hunt Test Morgan had five offspring running, 2 in JR and 3 in SR. On Sunday all passed! The Senior dogs were only 1 1/2 years old.

Morgan is available for breeding and frozen semen is now available!. Morgan is OFA excellent, CERF , CNM and EIC clear. His stud fee is $600. Morgan has a great pedigree with no Lean Mac and his stud fee is very reasonable. Check his pedigree out. It has to be one of the best in the retriever world!

Bustin is a chocolate male that we purchased from Nancy Planasch of Erins Edge in Wisconsin. He is one of the nicest puppies we have ever had….great temperament, smart and loving. He is a deep chocolate, loves to retrieve and goes with style. We hunted pheasants over Thanksgiving  2008 and decided to throw a big rooster for Bustin. Even though he had never seen a pheasant in his life, he raced right out, picked it up with no hesitation or playing and promply brought it right back to Marcia.  Three months old and kickin’ it !!  He enjoyed his first dove hunting early in September 2009. Seeing him bring in a dove was a hoot…big mouth, little bird!Look for good things from this boy.

As of April 2010  Bustin’ has completed his basic obedience, CC, FF, BB and is doing a refresher on Double T while beginning lining patterns and doing some “semi circle” cold blinds.  Bustin’ shows signs of being an excellent marker, taking straight lines out to 250 yards on field trial singles. He is doing easy doubles on both land and water and has earned his JH Title in four straight with flying colors.  Bustin’  had hip prelims and CERF done in October and turned out fine.

Bustin’ is available for limited breedings prior to AKC DNA profiling and final OFA x-rays.
