CHOCOLATE MALE PUPPY AVAILABLE.
One of the two chocolate male puppies born to Sophie on July 4 is now available for sale. The original buyer has decided to wait for a pup out of the litter that Lily will be having later in the year. The pup is EIC and CNM CLEAR and has a wonderful pedigree headed by a sire and dam that are strong in all areas. Pups will go to homes the weekend of August 20. Call for more info ( 217-247-2754).
2010 LITTERS PLANNED
SOPHIE’S PUPS BORN!
Sophie’s pups were born on July 4 on Independence Day afternoon. There were 2 chocolate males, 1 chocolate female, 1 black male and 1 black female. EIC results are in. It is possible that we will have an eic/cnm clear male available for sale. We will know for sure on about July 25 as we are giving a client/friend some time to consider the purchase. Call for more information.
At the present time we are planning two litters for 2010 with the mothers being our chocolate factored black female Sophie and our chocolate female Lily.
Sophie has been bred to Woody ( see below) and pups are due on Saturday, July 3. The first breeding occurred ten minutes after Woody had lined the Finished water blind on Saturday ( one of two dogs to do so) and the second breeding took place ten minutes after he had lined the land blind on Sunday( Only dog to do so)! Woody was absolutely splendid the entire weekend and performed the breedings in like fashion.
Sophie finally came into season on Sunday, April 18 which was a red letter day in many ways!. Arrangements had been made with Bruce Mountain of Iowa to breed Soph to Bruce’s fine young Qualified all-age chocolate male, GMHR, HRCH Mountain’s Top Watermark’n Woody MH. (Woody obtained his HRCH (UKC) title in 7 straight passes and his GMHR (NAHRA) in 15 straight passes.) First progesterone test was done on Thursday, April 22 with a second test done on Tuesday, April 27. Based upon the Prog. Tests the pups should be born on July 3 with pups going to homes on about August 20. Litter should be 1/2 black, 1/2 chocolate with all puppies eic tested at 3 days.
Lily came into season on Dec. 4, 2009 ( her first season) so she will not be bred until her second season. Since she has had only one season we can only guess when that would be but in all probability it will be an early fall-fall litter and will probably be an all chocolate litter.
At the present time we are considering a few different stud dogs. High on our list is:
1. GMHR, HRCH Mountain’s Top Watermark’n Woody MH, QAA is a 70 pound chocolate male owned by Bruce Mountain near DesMoines, Ia. Woody is only three and is out of FC Nan Dool’s Elwood Blues. Complete info on Woody can be seen on Bruce’s website www.topchocolatelabs.com. Woody will probably be our first choice for Sophie.
2. HRCH Heidl’s Mallard Machine MH is a now deceased, beautiful, 80 pound Chocolate male with a ton of hunting experience and great stlye along with a proven record of producing fine pups. Swiper was owned by Tom Heidl near Oshgosh, Wi. More info can be seen on Tom’s website, www.lockednloadedlabs.com.
3. Ten Bears Road Trip, QAA is a 75 pound chocolate male owned by Mike Judas near Galesburg, Il. Tick has two Amateur wins. We have used Tick three times and the pups have been just great. More info can be seen on Mike’s website, www.tenbearkennels.net. Tick will probably be our first choice for Lily.
FUTURE BREEDING
We are considering doing a different sort of breeding in a year or year and a half. Sophie would be bred to a yellow, probably FC Blackwater’s Last Resort( FC-AFC Blackwater Rudy x a MH daughter of FC-AFC Dare To Dream), a three year old yellow male from South Dakota. Litter would be all black, all yellow factored with app. 1/2 of the pups being tri-factored. We would be keeping a trifactored, eic clear puppy for ourselves. Let us know if you have any interest in this breeding or if you have questions. We are also considering doing the breeding with our own Morgan.

1. Renee Fites (In.) 574-858-9845. Black/Yellow litter( Morgan) whelped March 9, 2010. Thirteen (13) pups born, 7 yellow and 6 black! Dam, Tess, a beautiful, well behaved trifactored black MH,HR female out of FC-AFC Sally’s Southpaw and Jackie Working-Thibodeaux’s nice black female, ” Cricket“. Cricket is a GRHRCH, MH( 88 passes), a MNH and is in The Master National Hall of Fame ( 5 passes). She also has Quallifying placements and JAM’s. An excellent pedigree in all ways. Approximately half of these puppies should be chocolate factored as well as all being yellow factored. Tess has been tested and is eic/cnm clear, as is Morgan. Pups will be UKC and AKC registered. Reservations being accepted. One black male available as of 5/12/2010.
2. Brett Erickson ( Il.) 309-246-6241; 773-251-9472. Black litter (Morgan) whelped April 3, 2010. Dam. Ember, a nice black gundog with a nice pedigree to go along with her personality. Brett is an outfittter working out of Argentina during the duck season down there. Ultrasound confirms puppies. Pups are ready for homes and a big Black Male has become available ( 5/25).
3. Darrel Frichtl (Il.) 309-928-3495. Chocolate litter( Bustin’) whelped April 27, 2010. Dam, Fanny, a nice chocolate companion dog with a very nice pedigree. Fanny is out of the chocolate male, Indy, that we formally owned. Indy is out of FC-AFC Puff Daddy and Willow d’ One, QAA. An ultrasound has confirmed puppies! Reservations are being accepted.
4. Wendy Nugent( In./Ia.) 574-527-0455. Yellow/Black litter ( Morgan) due July 28, 2010. Dam, Lodi, is a yellow factored black female out of FC-AFC General Patton and a well bred MH female, Qwest. Lodi has all the health clearances and loads of potential.
